CCC Attends NTIBN Networking Event
Cross Cultural Consultants very much enjoyed attending the Northern Territory Indigenous Business Network’s (NTIBN) recent networking event, held on Friday 31st of July. The event had a focus on construction, but was headed by Jason Elsegood who holds the voluntary position of the NTIBN’s Chair. Several CCC staff opted to attend, and enjoyed an evening speaking with local Aboriginal business owners, and businesses that support the continued growth of Aboriginal business and employment in the Northern Territory.
In particular it was refreshing to hear the story of the Rusca Bros, one of the event’s sponsors. Started by Sid Rusca, a member of the Stolen Generations, Rusca Bros is now a successful Northern Territory business. Specialising in civil construction and mining the company has over 40 years experience in the industry, and is a wonderful example of the success of Indigenous business. Rusca Bros is also committed to the training and employment of Aboriginal people in the NT, which is something the CCC highly comments.
Our Director Jason Elsegood used the event as an opportunity to build yet more strong connections within the business sector of the Northern Territory, and it is our hope that these relationships continue. He also took the opportunity to speak about the work of the Northern Territory Indigenous Business Network, and their goals in the future. With his business partner Wendy Moulds, of ie project, they shared their own success story about Indigenous employment throughout the Northern Territory, particularly in the realm of labour hire.
All in all, the NTIBN Networking Event was a timely and important event that all those in attendance from CCC thoroughly enjoyed. As an Indigenous business we are always happy to see, and share in, the success of similar businesses around us. We hope that with the NTIBN, and the growing realisation about the importance of Indigenous business, particularly in the Northern Territory, these events will continue to grow in popularity.
